Science and technology

Science and technology is mandatory for all students from Kindergarten to Year 6.

In science and technology, students explore the natural and made worlds. They learn how to apply scientific and technological skills, knowledge and understanding across a broad range of contexts.

Science provides a way of inquiring about the world around us. It explores evidence and investigates ways to discover, develop and produce solutions to real world problems. The inquiry and skill-based nature of science opens doors to ideas and discoveries.

Information technology

Our students are fortunate to have access to a well resourced computer room containing a full class set of computers and printer.

Each class has designated time to use the computer room. Classes participate and various stage appropriate activities developing confidence and skills in:

  • word processing
  • communicating via the internet
  • creating presentations
  • using educational software.

Students also have access to a set of class notebooks for computer work in the classroom, a connected classroom, a suite of iPads and digital cameras to support their learning.

Every teacher utilises Interactive Whiteboards in their teaching providing engaging learning experiences and modelled computer use.
